JOB SUMMARY
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
• Accountable for departmental performance. Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address business and operational challenges. Decisions guided by policies, procedures and business plan. Generally manages a recognized discipline and specialty with separate budget.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Develops processes and measures to endure that Power Generation resources are effectively utilized in various plant seasonal operating scenarios, to include maintenance support and gas storage.
• Ensures clearance procedures and processes comply with current Instruction and Method (I&M) guidelines.
• May be responsible for the overall operation & maintenance of assigned plant Fuel Supply operations.
• Leads and participates in projects impacting multiple power plants (e.g., process improvement, Power Plant policies and guidelines, etc.) including both gas and coal technologies.
• Monitor unit operation to ensure economic performance on a unit basis and system (w/GPC).
• Responsible for overall coordinating and training in the Power Generation area as it affects the Plant Maintenance (PM) System and Work Clearance Management (WCM).
• Reviews /develops and recommends operating procedures for approval by management.
• Ensure plant complies with state and federal environmental regulations.
• Responsible for preparation, forecasting, monitoring and control of the O&M, capital and payroll budgets for Power Generation area of plant.
• Coordinates with Technical Training, as applicable to determine extent and content of training programs.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Coordinates with Equipment Support Supt (ESS) and the Generation Planning and Control (GPC) for analyzing and determining the proper timing for maintenance outages and load reductions.
• Works with Company resources and different vendor representatives in solving various Power Generation problems.
• Coordinates and administers all Power Generation functions in the Power Plant, Fuels and Gas Storage areas.
• Coordinates with the ESS for the maintenance of the coal unloading and conveying facilities and directs preventative and minor maintenance of coal unloading and conveying systems, as applicable.
• Responsible for initiating and coordinating all personnel training, determining training requirements and previewing training material to ensure it fulfills training needs.
• Responsible for determining proper permanent and seasonal staffing of Power Generation Groups.
• Coordinates with Plant Supervision to ensure optimum plant availability and reliability, which includes the prioritizing of maintenance.
REQUIREMENTS
• High School Diploma/GED And 10 years of directly related experience (e.g., power plant/ power generation, coal handling, industrial material handling, chemical, or related process plant), And
• 3 years of recent Plant leadership/supervisory experience; Or
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Professional Engineer license, And 5 years of directly related experience (e.g., utility or industrial plant engineering), And
• 3 years of leadership/supervisory experience or project leadership experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
• Permanent residence within a reasonable driving distance to the Sooner Power Plant
WORKING CONDITIONS
• May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.
• May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
• Physically able to perform duties of the job including bending, stooping, walking, reaching overhead, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting fifty (50) pounds.
• Open large valves with extensive physical exertion and perform hand over hand pulling of chain/wheel-operated valves.
• May be required to work non-standard work schedules.
SPECIAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
• Member will not be required to drive in order to perform their job duties.
• The operation, maintenance or oversight of critical services and infrastructure including but not limited to, electric utilities, power generation or distribution;

• Demonstrated expertise in plant operation, systems and equipment functionality within the system process for equipment support and power plant generation.
• Demonstrated expertise of power plant maintenance engineering for both gas and coal plants.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and manage department budgets and to develop workforce plans in a power plant environment to include developing and proposing multiple solutions to complex problems.
• Demonstrated strong leadership skills with ability to develop and share a vision with team.
• Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards, safety rules and regulations, and safety precautions and practices.
• Proficient in operating personal computers and Company approved software.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, one-line diagrams and prints.
• Demonstrated sound decision-making abilities.
• Knowledge of budgeting processes and procedures and ability to understand the financial and competitive issues that affect plant operation.
