JOB SUMMARY
** This requisition is being posted across two skill levels (Staff) and (Senior). Applicants will be considered for the higher of the two levels in which they qualify **
Responsible for providing engineering support to transmission system operations and to meet the NERC reliability standard requirements and internal business needs. Performs analysis of transmission system by using simulation tools and data analytic techniques. Develops operational and compliance solutions that require engineering knowledge. Provides recommendations for system and process improvements.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
• General responsibilities with standardized processes. Works under limited supervision. Resolves routine questions and problems. Refers the more complex issues to higher levels. Follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job. Some latitude for deviation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Supports the transmission control center on matters related to state estimation, power flow analysis, real-time contingency analysis, and other control room applications.
• Performs system operational/impact studies to address the needs of reliability assessment that span from real-time operations to operational planning horizon.
• Performs event analysis following significant system disturbances.
• Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the initiatives with profound impacts on transmission operations (e.g., FERC Order 881).
• Assists the SCADA/EMS team with system model maintenance and updates.
• Develops and reviews compliance documents for NERC reliability standards and OG&E engineering standards.
• May serve as primary SME in NERC audits.
• Solves problems and develops solutions that call for original approach, based on thorough and comprehensive technical expertise.
• Monitors industry activities to provide advice on complex engineering matters related to transmission system operations.
• May act in a liaison capacity with other internal departments and external organizations (e.g., Southwest Power Pool).
• Assists upper-level engineers as directed while developing specialized engineering skills.
REQUIREMENTS
STAFF:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or PE, And 2 years related engineering experience (which may include non-Engineer experience such as Engineering Internship, Design, Drafting, and Engineering Tech experience. This type of experience will be counted at half rate.)
SENIOR:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or PE And 5 years related engineering experience (at least 3 years as an Engineer and a maximum of 2 years related experience which may include non-Engineer experience such as Engineering Internship, Design, Drafting, and Engineering Tech experience. This type of experience will be counted at half rate.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in power system engineering.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
• May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.
• May require travel.
• May be required to work non-standard hours, holidays, and schedules.
• May be required to work non-standard work schedules.
SPECIAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

• The operation of equipment, machinery or power tools;
• The operation, maintenance or oversight of critical services and infrastructure including but not limited to, electric utilities, power generation or distribution;

• Experience and/or familiarity with transmission system operations, modeling, or analysis.
• Experience and/or familiarity with transmission operation process.

Staff: $78,458 - $104,624
Senior: $94,848 - $126,464
