JOB SUMMARY

Position performs professional accounting functions using generally accepted accounting principles primarily in areas of accounting for income taxes and tax compliance

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

Requires general responsibilities following standardized processes, working under limited supervision to resolve routine questions and problems while referring the more complex issues to higher levels

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Independently perform moderately complex accounting activities primarily related to federal and state taxation
• Will assist senior professionals in carrying out complex calculations, specialized reports or reconciliations
• Will be responsible for participation in various projects, studies and filings related to income taxes, information returns, property taxes and compliance reporting for various types of tax
• Will perform tax research about specific topics involving Federal and State tax laws
• Perform detailed analysis of accounting and business information related to taxes
• Use best practices and knowledge of functional accounting principles and business operations to ensure completeness, accuracy, and usefulness of records
• Identify variances, prepare detailed explanations, correspondence with peers, internal customers, management, tax authorities etc. as needed to resolve discrepancies
• Make recommendations to assist the Company or department in making decisions regarding present, future, and potential costs concerning tax related matters
• Identify the appropriate recording and reporting of financial information that achieves department and company objectives
• Analyze data, prepare journal entries and assist in the preparation of various accounting schedules, reports, filings, returns and/or statements on a timely basis
• Interact with internal and external auditors on various matters, specifically, preparation of audit schedules and reviews
• Ensure completeness, accuracy, and usefulness of accounting records
• All other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and 2 years directly related experience; Or

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance or other business-related degree with 12 hours of Accounting, and 2 years directly related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 2 years business tax experience including corporations and partnerships

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Office environment

• May be required to work non-standard hours

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)

• Proven personal computer skills with strong knowledge in Microsoft applications and other related software. (Excel, SAP)
• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve routine accounting problems with minimal supervision
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to communicate in speech and writing with members at all levels throughout the organization and outside professionals
• Knowledgeable and skilled in applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• CPA or a candidate pursuing a CPA or EA
