JOB SUMMARY
We are hiring for either a Senior Field Engineer or a Lead Engineer baseon on candidates' qualifications.
Develops plans and specifications, performs analysis, and provides reports on assigned tasks involving design and construction of new facilities or operation and maintenance of existing facilities. Technically involved in the resolution of equipment and operational problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, performing design work, and detailed checking of design computations done by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project.

• Complex responsibilities related to primary focus of job area. Uses best practices and in-depth business knowledge to solve complex problems and improve products or services. May adapt procedures, processes and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Provides subject matter expertise and engineering support for the maintenance of boiler and/or steam turbines and other large rotating equipment.
• Maintains Mechanical Integrity maintenance programs for critical equipment.
• Mentors company engineers and engineering interns.
• Prepares and reviews elements of contractor Scope of Work regarding testing and maintenance of plant equipment and materials.
• Performs job-in-process inspections to assure maintenance projects are properly conducted per Scope of Work.
• Responsible to promote a safety culture by modeling behaviors consistent with IIF (Incident and Injury Free).
• Supports company safety programs and initiatives by following all EHS and Operating procedures and adhering to established design standards.
• Prepares engineering analysis for small/routine projects to include: preliminary design, calculation, life cycle cost and equipment selection.
• Assists upper level engineers as directed while developing specialized engineering skills.
• Conducts surveys to gather field data.
• Prepare and interpret schematics, drawings, layouts and other visual aids.
• Reviews and critiques proposed changes to engineering standards, policies and guidelines.
• Review development plans for compliance with adopted engineering standards and good engineering practices.
• Functions as quality inspector or defines quality requirements on engineering designs and projects.
• Assures that all design specifications conform to the latest national and local codes, rules and regulations.
• Provides on-the-job training to new staff.
• All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Senior Field Engineer Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or PE & 5 years directly related engineering experience (which may include non-Engineer exp such as Engineering Internship, Design, Drafting, and Engineering Technician exp. This type of exp will be counted at half rate) Or
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology and 7 years directly related experience (at least 5 years as an Engineer and a maximum of 2 years related experience which may include non-Engineer.)
Lead Engineer Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 6 years related engineering experience (at least 4 years as an Engineer and a maximum of 2 years related experience which may include non-Engineer experience such as Engineering Internship, Design, Drafting, and Engineering Tech experience. This type of experience will be counted at half rate.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidate’s preferred qualifications would have either an emphasis on Boiler Combustion, on Rotating Equipment, or a hybrid (detailed or general) of both.
Combustion Emphasis:
- Experience with combustion and boiler performance, pulverizers, boiler pumps and fans.
- Experience providing combustion testing and tuning support for gas fired boiler systems.
- Experience advising routine monitoring of coal fired boiler systems operation, including testing and tuning of assets required to prepare and control a pulverized coal fuel system.
- Experience providing technical guidance for both bottom ash and fly ash system performance.
- Experience providing support and direction to operations and maintenance departments regarding pulverizer, burner, and ash handling system control and maintenance.
- Experience interfacing with plant engineering and operations staff to educate and train members in system operation and control.
Rotating Equipment Emphasis:
- Experience providing engineering and technical support for steam turbines and other large rotating equipment (e.g. pumps, compressors, fans, gas turbines, etc.).
- Knowledge of vibration, balancing and alignment techniques of rotating equipment.
- Experience with turbine/generator vibration analysis and balancing.
- Experience troubleshooting Power Plant equipment such as Steam Turbines, Turbine Valves, Boiler Feed Pumps, Boiler Feed Pump Steam Turbines, Circulating Water Pumps, Forced Draft Fans, and Gas Turbines.
- Experience with Turbine Supervisory Instrumentation (TSI).
- Knowledge of SAP PM (Plant Maintenance).
WORKING CONDITIONS
• May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.
• May be required to work non-standard work schedules.
• May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
• May require travel.
