JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the GIS database. Determines and resolves data problems in GIS, SAP and modeling tools. Verifies the accuracy of and reconciles discrepancies to land base information in the production model and reconciles auto post discrepancies. Assists engineering functional groups in providing maps, generating reports and analyzing data.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

• General responsibilities with standardized processes. Works under limited supervision. Resolves routine questions and problems. Refers the more complex issues to higher levels. Follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job. Some latitude for deviation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provides mapping services from templates to Business Unit personnel or external entities.

• Enters, updates and removes base map features in the GIS land base based upon data from plats, plot plans and highway plans.

• Maintains the integrity of the GIS database using Workflow Manager and Session Manager.

• Provides basic help desk support to GIS users for the Business Unit.

• Reviews and checks lwer level/less complex distribution completed work orders before they are submitted for auto-posting in the GIS.

• Checks the work of GIS Tech Associate members and/or other GIS Tech Staff members.

• Enters, updates and removes facilities in the GIS based on work orders and other information.

• Creates and executes queries using GIS tools to generate adhoc reports from GIS data like Query Definitions.

• All other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field (e.g., Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, Geography, Cartography, Geomatics, GIS), And 1 year of related experience (e.g., GIS, Engineering Technician, Land Management, Right of Way, Drafting and Design); Or

• Associate's Degree in a related field (e.g., Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, Geography, Cartography, Geomatics, GIS, Drafting and Design), And 3 years of related experience (e.g., GIS, Engineering Technician, Land Management, Right of Way, Drafting and Design); Or

• High School Diploma/GED And 5 years of related experience (e.g., GIS, Engineering Technician, Land Management, Right of Way, Drafting and Design).

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Requires travel with occasional extended stays.

• Requires occasional job site visits.

• Office environment.

• May be required to work non-standard work schedules to including overtime, weekends, and holidays.

SPECIAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)

• Word, Excel, Access & Outlook).

• Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings and construction job prints.

• Ability to interpret and apply Construction Standards.

• Moderated understanding of GIS principles and practices.

• Computer skills with knowledge of MS Office Suite applications (e.g.

• Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing.

• Ability to interact effectively and professionally with team members, leaders, and customers.

• Ability to troubleshoot problems, and resolve them effectively.

• Ability to understand and comply with company policies and operating procedures.

• Moderated knowledge of ESRI software (e.g.

• Esri ArcMap, ArcInfo, ArcCatalog, etc.) and GIS tools.

• Basic knowledge of SQL language programming.

• Ability to import data into GIS from various data sources.
