JOB SUMMARY

Performs environmental and chemistry-related functions at a power plant to support efficient operation and environmental compliance.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Routine duties based on detailed instruction. Works under direct supervision. Responds to routine questions and problems within standards and guides. Follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures compliance with safety policies and promotes a safety culture by modeling behaviors consistent with Incident and Injury Free (IIF).
  • Performs basic environmental compliance functions.
  • Performs basic water treatment operation.
  • Performs basic boiler chemistry control and cooling water chemistry control.
  • Serve as a technical resource to plant personnel.
  • Company representative in Environmental agency inspections (e.g., EPA, ODEQ, Corporation Commission).
  • All other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry; Or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science with Two 2 years chemistry experience (i.e. Environmental laboratory, regulatory, Environmental consulting, equivalent military experience, Industrial Environmental, etc.).

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • May require travel.
  • May be required to work non-standard work schedules which includes overtime, weekends, holidays, on-call and call-outs.
  • May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
  • Required to work with multi-crafts crews and other groups.
  • May work under hazardous conditions where physical danger exists due to mechanical equipment.

  • Basic computer skills using MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Access).
  • Ability to read and understand environmental regulations, company policies and operating procedures.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude in the use of hand tools.
  • Ability to take on additional responsibility.
  • Demonstrates the ability manage plant RCRA waste.
