JOB SUMMARY
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Supervises daily activities of team. Sets priorities to accomplish task or process completion. Decisions guided by policies, procedures and business plan. May perform the same work as subordinates.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for the proper staffing and utilization of manpower on the shift.
- Responsible for the inspection of equipment to ascertain problems and initiate or recommend appropriate action to resolve the problem.
- Responsible for the coordination of operation and maintenance with management and OG&E Power Operations and Transmission Operations, so that unified, cohesive control of plant capability is maintained.
- Serves as initial plant contact for business needs of the site whenever plant management is absent (e.g., safety, security, Environmental, external communications, etc.).
- Operating Authority for issuance, approval, initiation and completion of LOTO procedures.
- Conducts safety meetings for assigned shift personnel.
- Maintains log of plant activities during assigned shift.
- Analyzes, studies operating conditions and makes suggestions to plant management to improve operating procedures and practices.
- Informs plant leadership of operating and maintenance activities, which affect the capability of the plant on a daily basis.
- Performs various supervisory functions for subordinates consistent with Company policy.
- Operate the plant from the Control Room and all Auxiliaries, as needed.
- Acts as subject matter expert and coaches and mentors less experienced members in their training and development.
- Directs activities of contractors and vendors, as needed.
- Provides technical management for Operations projects.
- Evaluates project progress and manpower performance (internal and external) and reports to supervisor and/or project manager.
- Provides expert feedback and is an active participant in the RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) process.
- Contributes to data collection and potential solutions.
- Monitors, operates and checks equipment.
- Identifies and reports abnormal equipment operations.
- Takes corrective action and/or initiates requests for equipment repair.
- Monitors, analyzes and performs boiler and cooling water chemistry and makes adjustments, as needed.
- Keeps logs, records data and verbally communicates plant conditions.
- Utilizes SAP/PM system for equipment history and verification of work performed.
- Follows all safety and environmental rules and regulations.
- Repairs, inspects and maintains boiler and boiler auxiliaries, turbine/generator auxiliaries, also fuel supply equipment and auxiliaries, if applicable.
- Performs general craft tasks, operates various industrial equipment, and uses power hand tools.
- Reads and interprets drawings and prints.
- Works with other craft and plant personnel, as required.
- All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma/GED and 6 years of Power Plant Operator or equivalent industrial process operator experience, to include 2 years Power Plant Operator experience with the controls after meeting qualifications requirements (same as Control Operator qualification).
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Required to work non-standard work schedules (i.e. outside typical Monday through Friday) to include overtime, weekends, holidays, and call-outs, as needed.
- May require travel.
- May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground.
- May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
- Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Majority of time may be spent performing the same work as subordinates.
